I am saving up for an Ableton Push 2 as I found myself wanting a deeper workflow in Ableton.

TL/DR: I am looking for any way to have a Roland TR-8/808/909 style step sequencer running in Ableton with some piece of midi hardware.ĭecision: Decided to get a LaunchPad Mini MK2 as the launchpad95 software works in Ableton 9.5.

So, if anyone knows how to do it on that, I would appreciate too.

I am interested in the clip triggering and the tr-8/808 style step sequencer.įinally, I also have touchable. I'm not interested in that as I am a classically trained pianist and I have enough keyboard midi controllers and synths. Now I know push, the new notation Launchpads and akai apc 40mk2 all have ways of mimicking a piano/guitar keybed. But, again, older hardware is needed and I, like everyone else, wouldn't mind to save $300. I only have the standard version of Ableton, and I'm not opposed to getting the suite version. Seems like ableton 9.2 was the last supported version.Īlso, I've looked into akai apc 20/40 mapping for max/live. But, it is only for older Launchpads and it seems like the development has recently dropped off. So, I want to have that style of step sequencer in Ableton. Recently though, I played with a new Roland TR-8 and I loved the ease of building beats with it. I've been using Ableton for years and I have primarily manually built my midi drum beats.
